Growling as the Wolf

This week has been a first for me. It's been over a decade

since I started on cello (2002 actually)

and I've been playing on cruise ships and on land in

string quartets, trios, and duos.

Never ever have I performed on cello in an orchestra.

Cello is my heart, my love.

Playing it makes me happy (even if I'm not physically smiling). This week has been pure joy...even....though I'm performing early in the morning, playing in a convention hall where hearing parts is slightly difficult, there are screaming kids filling the entire audience, and I'm sitting at the back of my section so I feel all alone.

Even though I was scared to death to volunteer to the orchestral personnel manager that I play cello instead of violin (my confidence could use some work), I'm so glad I did. I've had nothing but continuous support and encouragement from the cello section and the conductor. The true question of course, will be if I get hired on cello again. Crossing my fingers and terrified at the same time. It's always scary venturing into a new situation.

Still, I must live life and that means taking risks and challenging myself. I've certainly done that this week!
